Mat Rempit rob manager at petrol kiosk (Batu Tiga)

KUALA LUMPUR: An assistant manager's decision to rest at a petrol station along the Federal Highway early Tuesday turned out to be a nightmare when he was robbed by a gang of Mat Rempit.

The 31-year-old victim was on his way back to Klang about 5am when he decided to take a brief nap at a petrol station near the Batu Tiga toll plaza.

He was awakened by the sound of someone trying to break into his car.

"The startled man saw his car surrounded by motorcyclists and tried to drive off when the group smashed his car windows," said a police spokesman.

"The gang then opened the door and dragged the victim out before punching and kicking him.
"One of them even used an umbrella, which he took from the victim's car, to assault him. They were so violent that the victim even had a brick thrown at his face."

The spokesman said the gang, about 20 of them on 10 motorcycles, grabbed the victim's wallet and other valuables before fleeing the scene. He lost RM2,000 and two mobile phones.

The victim, who suffered bruises and cuts on his face, sought help from a passing motorist who took him to the Subang Jaya police station, where he lodged a report.
